SLOVENIA.

From the first days of the Electric Telegraph, the area now considered to be Slovenia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
From 1918 to 1991 it was part of Yugoslavia, within which it became the Socialist Republic of Slovenia from 1944.
It broke away and became the independent Republic of Slovenia in 1991.

It should not be confused with the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia (1868-1918).

My Note. Steve Hiscocks had this listed here, but it turns out that this is Italian.
The letters 'FERT' at the bottom is the motto of the Royal House of Italy (House of Savoy), though the meaning is a matter of controversy.

I currently have no examples that I think should be listed here,
but there may have been some from the 1945-91 period intended for use specifically in the Socialist Republic of Slovenia.
The same also applies to the Federal Republics of Macedonia and Montenegro.

SOUTH AFRICAN REPUBLIC

This was not what is now called South Africa or the RSA. The wording is in Afrikaans only. This is the Africaner / Boer state
which existed from the 1850s to 1902 when, as the Transvaal, it became part of what is now South Africa.
The seal below is the only one so far known. It must date from before 1902.

Updates. The above was written by Steve Hiscocks.
I have done little as yet. No pricing either.

SOUTH-WEST AFRICA

This seal is the only one so far known from South-West Africa, the area which became a United Nations Trust Territory
but administered by South Africa when it was lost by Germany in 1915 during the first World War
and then became Namibia in 1990. The seal below must be from before 1915.

This is the seal illustrated by Hiscocks, but it is inscribed "Deutsch-Südamerikanische Telegraphengesellschaft, A. G.", meaning "German South American Telegraph Company".
It does though have a connection with West Africa in that according to Atlantic-Cable.com, the company laid cables from Monrovia, Liberia (West Africa) to Pernambuco, Brazil and later
from Monrovia to Lomé (Togo) and Duala in the German Cameroons. However it is inscribed "CÖLN" or Cologne in Germany.
The company was more in the business of laying cables than delivering telegrams. I will move this to Germany.
